The cable car.
Four minutes from the edge of the Old Town to the top of Mount Srđ, and the view that sells Dubrovnik to the world.
Short answer
A return cable car ticket is about €30 for adults. In peak season it runs roughly 09:00 to midnight from the lower station just above Ploče. The ride takes about four minutes. Sunset is the busiest slot — queue 45 minutes before, or drive up instead.
The basics
Return ticket
About €30 for adults; one-way and family options are available at the counter.
Peak-season hours
Roughly 09:00–24:00 in high summer, reduced in shoulder season.
Lower station
On Petra Krešimira IV, just above Ploče Gate — a short uphill walk from the Old Town.
Journey
About four minutes each way to 405 m on Mount Srđ.
Avoiding the queue
The hour before sunset is the single busiest slot of the day. Either arrive 45 minutes early, or go up at 10:00 and come back for sunset another day.
You can drive to the top via the Bosanka road in about 15 minutes, or walk the old serpentine path in 50–70 minutes — brutal in summer heat, lovely at dawn.
In strong bura wind the cable car suspends service without much notice. The road stays open.
At the top
There is a restaurant with a terrace, a viewing platform, and the Homeland War Museum inside the Napoleonic fort.
It is noticeably windier and cooler up there — take a layer, even in August.
