Things to Do.
From the must-sees to the day-trips worth taking a boat for. Here's how a local would order the list.
Dubrovnik City Walls
The 2 km walk around the walls is the single best thing you'll do in Dubrovnik. Allow 1.5–2 hours, go at opening (8:00) or 2 hours before sunset, and bring water. Ticket includes Fort Lovrijenac. The 2026 adult ticket is €40 — free with the Dubrovnik Pass, which is usually better value if you plan to see anything else.
Mount Srđ Panorama
Sitting 412 m above the city — the view over the Old Town, Lokrum, and the Elaphiti Islands is unmatched. Reach it by cable car, a private tour, or the steep switchback road behind the city.
Cable Car
Runs every few minutes from just above the Old Town to the top of Mount Srđ. Sunset rides are magical but busy — book online in advance.
Lokrum Island
A 15-minute ferry from the Old Port. Botanical gardens, peacocks, a small monastery, a saltwater lake for swimming, and the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones. Bring water and a towel.
Elaphiti Islands
The trio of Koločep, Lopud, and Šipan — car-free, quiet, and beautiful. Do a full-day boat tour or take the public ferry from Gruž and pick one island to explore properly.
Blue Cave Tours
Half-day speedboat trip to the Blue Cave on Koločep or further afield. The light inside the cave is best midday. Combine with island stops and swimming.
Walking Tours
A licensed guide changes how you see the Old Town — history, sieges, earthquakes, film locations, neighbourhood stories. 90-minute morning tours are ideal before the crowds and the heat.
Game of Thrones Tour
Dubrovnik was King's Landing. Fort Lovrijenac (Red Keep), the Jesuit Staircase (Walk of Shame), Pile Bay (Blackwater), and Lokrum (the Iron Throne). A themed tour is the fastest way to see them all.
Wine Tours
The Pelješac Peninsula is Croatia's flagship red-wine region — Plavac Mali, Dingač, Postup. A private day tour of 2–3 wineries with lunch at a coastal konoba is a highlight for many guests.
Boat Tours
Elaphiti day cruise
Three islands, swimming stops, lunch on board.
Sunset cruise
1.5 hours around the walls at golden hour with a drink in hand.
Private speedboat charter
Design your own route — Blue Cave, hidden coves, lunch on Šipan.
