The City Walls.
Two kilometres of walkway around the entire Old Town — the one thing nobody should skip, and the one thing most people do at exactly the wrong time.
Short answer
An adult City Walls ticket is €40 for the 2026 season, and entry is free with the Dubrovnik Pass. Summer hours are roughly 08:00–19:30, with last entry one hour before closing. The full circuit takes 1.5–2 hours, is one-way, and has no shade.

One hour before closing, enforced strictly.
Entrances
Pile (main)
Immediately inside Pile Gate. Busiest, longest queue.
Ploče
By the Dominican Monastery on the east side — usually the shortest queue.
Maritime Museum / St John's Fortress
Southern entrance, handy if you are coming from the Old Port.
Walking it properly
The circuit is one-way and takes 1.5–2 hours with photo stops. Once committed you cannot easily turn back.
There is no shade. In July and August, walk at 08:00 or in the final hour before last entry — the midday heat on the stone is genuinely dangerous for children and older visitors.
There are steep staircases throughout. The walls are not accessible to wheelchairs or pushchairs.
Take water. The kiosks on the wall exist but charge accordingly.
